FOR CONSTRUCTION AND EXCAVATION PROJECTS

Connect your excess soil project with a potential reuse site.

Tell us about the excess soil your project expects to generate. We review location, volume, timing and available soil information to explore a potential connection with a receiving site. There is no fee to submit a source project inquiry.

HOW THE EXCHANGE HELPS

Source project matching across Ontario

Tell us about the excess soil your project expects to generate. We review location, volume, timing and available soil information to explore a potential connection with a receiving site. There is no fee to submit a source project inquiry.

Start with the source project

A source site is the project area where soil is excavated. Construction, utility, transit, infrastructure and redevelopment teams can share anticipated quantities, schedule, soil information and logistics so a potential receiving site can be considered early. Ontario Regulation 406/19 and the Soil Rules may apply depending on the project and material.

Information that supports a potential match

Share the municipality and nearest intersection, estimated volume, excavation dates, soil description, testing status, available reports, loading method and truck access. Include route limits, working hours, staging space and the date a receiving site must be ready. A phrase such as clean fill does not replace analytical information or a receiving operator's acceptance criteria.

How source and receiving projects connect

Our team reviews the source inquiry alongside receiving-site needs. Where location, timing, material information and potential use appear relevant, we may introduce the parties. The receiving operator and project team must verify suitability, destination capacity, approvals, written consent and required records before any movement.

Southern Ontario service area

We focus on potential connections across Niagara Region, Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area, including Welland, St. Catharines, Burlington, Mississauga and Toronto. The actual site locations and haul distance matter: a nearby destination is not automatically suitable or authorized. Source project inquiries are free; testing, hauling and professional consulting are separate services.

O. Reg. 406/19 and source project responsibilities

The regulation and incorporated Soil Rules set requirements for many projects involving excess soil, including planning, soil quality assessment, reuse and record keeping. Requirements depend on the project's circumstances and applicable exceptions. The inquiry helps explore a commercial connection; it does not characterize soil or fulfill a regulatory duty. Review project-specific obligations with the responsible Project Leader and qualified professionals.
