FEATURED OPPORTUNITY · WELLAND, NIAGARA REGION

Welland receiving opportunity for qualifying Table 5.1 soil.

A receiving site in Welland is reviewing project inquiries for soil that may meet applicable Table 5.1 criteria, including some material above Table 3 values. Table 5.1 is for defined stratified, non-potable groundwater conditions. A Qualified Person must assess the source and receiving-site conditions, and acceptance, capacity and placement requirements must be confirmed for each project. Where all applicable conditions for direct beneficial reuse are met, qualifying soil may avoid landfill and may not be designated as waste under O. Reg. 406/19. Table values alone do not confirm eligibility.

DATED REGULATORY UPDATE · 2027

Plan ahead for Ontario’s cleaner-soil landfill restriction.

From 1 January 2027, Ontario restricts landfilling certain excess soil that meets Table 2.1 RPI or cleaner, subject to defined exceptions. Check current rules for your project.
